          Now a days we have heard a lot of about Business Intelligence. So first we need to understand what is Business Intelligence. 

          According to Wikipedia "Business intelligence (BI) is a set of theories, methodologies, architectures, and technologies that transform raw data into meaningful and useful information for business purposes."

So as per the definition if we need to bring the Intelligence to Business, we need to use some methodologies, architectures, and technologies to transform the row data into meaningful information. 

        Row data is present in different system such as oracle, mainframe DB2, flat files, PDF files etc. Informatica is used to bring this scattered data to a place which we called a Data warehouse. So Informatica is an ETL tool which extract, transform and load the data.
