The PowerCenter Client application consists of the tools to manage the repository and to design mappings, mapplets, and sessions to load the data. The PowerCenter Client application has the following tools:
1. Repository Manager
2. Designer
3. Workflow Manager
4. Monitor
1. Repository Manager- As per the architecture it is directly dealing with Source, Target and Repository Services. It is not associated with Integration Services. With this tool we can create folders, change passpord, see logs, configure repository and domain. This tool is also useful in migration activity i.e. export or import of Informatica PowerCenter components.
2. Designer/Debugger - Designer is use to create source definition, target definition, transformation, mapplet and mapping. A mapping consist transformation instruction for the integration service. A transformation is containing the business logic to transform the data.
3. Workflow Manager- Use the Workflow Manager to create, schedule, and run workflows. A workflow is a set of instructions that describes how and when to run tasks related to extracting, transforming, and loading data. It is dealing with Integration service.
4. Workflow Monitor- Use the Workflow Monitor to monitor scheduled and running workflows for each Integration Service.
These four client are the heart of Informatica PowerCenter. By using these tools we design a data flow having some business logic. These tools convert row data into meaningful information to do the analysis. This is how we provide the intelligence to the business.
